Is Atlantis Real?

The city of Atlantis is a great place but is it real. According to the famous
philosopher Plato Atlantis was a naval power across “across the Pillars of Hercules that
conquered many parts of Western Europe and Africa 9,000 years before the time of the
legendary Athenian lawgiver Solon, i.e. in the 10th millennium BC. After a failed attempt to
invade, Athens. Atlantis sank into the ocean “in a single day and night of misfortune.”
Unfortunately there are no records or scientific findings to prove this, but scientists around
the world are working to find any evidence to prove the existence of Atlantis.
Among those who believe in an historical Atlantis, one common theory holds that
Plato’s story of the destruction of Atlantis was inspired by massive volcanic eruptions on
the Mediterranean island of Santorini during Minoan times. A main criticism of this theory is
that the ancient Greeks were well aware of volcanoes, and if there was a volcanic eruption,
it would seem likely that it would be mentioned.
I believe that Atlantis was located in Santorini because according to my opinion
Plato had made a good prediction about the people in Atlantis. I also believe that Plato
prediction was good because he wrote the only written evidence that proves that Atlantis
does exist. The people of Atlantis were a Utopian civilization. Their civilization consisted of
several concentric islands and a capital in the middle of the islands. Making this civilization
very unique and distinct from other civilizations. Which also questions its existence.
There are many theories of the existence of Atlantis but many of them are just myths
and legends. Unlike Plato’s works those other theories are merely just stories. Plato’s
writings have understandings of curiosity. Few, if any, scientists think Atlantis actually
existed, but there is still more to learn about our past. Maybe someday scientists will find
hard evidence of the city of Atlantis.
